Working with Erik Henry and George Murphy on this was a wonderful experience. The artistry and level of professionalism on this show was outstanding. They both are such kind and thoughtful managers -- helping you get the work looking as detailed and beautiful as possible, with a nurturing influence that helps achieve your best work. Can't say enough great things about these guys -- and the whole crew for that matter. I'm very proud of our work on this show.... and I'm really looking forward to Season 3.

I recently had a wonderful time doing a tutorial for Digital Tutors, the premiere site for learning CG and related disciplines. This lesson illustrates the basics of creating costume setups for a studio production environment. Click on the orange button below, if you'd like to check it out. (And if you do watch it, I would love to hear any feedback you have about it..) This was such a great experience that I'll probably be doing more of these in the near future. Jumping back into feature animation with a wonderful cast of characters and working (again) with my old fellow cloth and hair colleages at Sony Imageworks. Many of us have worked on other Sony projects together (like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, I Am Legend and The Polar Express). So it's nice to be back "home" again, working on a wonderfully funny movie -- Hotel Transyvania 2 -- which is due out September 2015.
Continuing on to more Black Sails Season 2 work at Digital Domain. We'll be picking up where we left off at Reliance MediaWorks and finish the amazing work we started. Looking forward to working with the new team which includes a few alums from the old team. Sails, flags and ropes be on the horizon, Ahoy Mateys!
Big congratulations to VFX Supes George Murphy and Erik Henry and to my fellow artists, Jay Banks and Oscar Castillo for winning our highest honor in visual effects for television: Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role.
Erik set the visual bar high, as high as feature work, and the show really reflects that. I owe much appreciation to George Murphy for getting our season two work up to the same level (if not more so!) This was one of two ads I worked on last summer at Digital Domain. A game from Warner Brothers set in the Lord of the Rings universe, it was really fun working on the clothing for these characters. It's been a year since we worked on it, so we're hoping the second one will be released soon! I've been having a wonderful experience working on Black Sails. The attention to detail and beautiful art direction has made this film quality production a pleasure to work on. I'm now working with Reliance Mediaworks to bring to life Michael Bay's new series, "Black Sails". While building the sails and ropes, one comes to really understand the meaning of the term "rigging". This season they've added a lot more rope/sail interaction and that's been fun and challenging to tackle. Luckily, I'm working with a great group of people, which makes all of this possible. Had a wonderful time working with the folks at The Mill on a series of 4 DirectTV spots. We had many challenges and laughs bringing the world's first marionette family to life. Check it out!
I've been at DreamWorks again for the past couple weeks doing CFX work on animations for the new DreamTab kid's tablet from Fuhu. The animation is pretty high quality and it's a really fun little project. I like knowing the end result is going towards a kid's product. Somehow makes it seem more important.
